The start of it all...

 

Catou Lévesque is the founder and principal operator of Exact Translations. She started a home-based translation business as a young mother of two in 1985, all the while holding a full time job and taking night courses from Langara College and subsequently, UBC. At the beginning the translation requests came mostly from the academic community based mainly in BC's Lower Fraser Valley.

Catou also became, fortuitously and to help a friend, more and more involved in the consumer and cosmetic product industry in regards to compliancy with Canadian labelling and packaging regulations and conformity to the Food and Drug Act. Branching off helped to create a second company dealing exclusively with Consumer Products Industry offering label translation and compliancy services.

Catou was lucky, throughout the years, to have educational opportunities readily available and was able to constantly develop herself and her companies professionally and personally. Soon, she created a team of professionals ready to take on the volume brought on with the inception of Exact Translations website in the early 1990's. The development of the original website was instrumental in seeing the merging of her two existing companies into one entity under the name of Exact Translations – an original idea of Catou's oldest son, Jesse.
